The high quality of care offered by the Martha Clinic, Yei, meant that the old 10-bed children’s ward often had an average of 18 patients a day, resulting in mattresses having to be laid out on the floor and an overflow on the veranda. in July 2014 work began to build a new Children’s ward to cater for this need. Work was completed in October 204 and the new ward provides an extra 20 beds for children and so also allows room for growth.
”The staff love the new ward and the community are also very pleased as the children will not need to have mattresses on the floor or the veranda,” Poppy Spens, a Nurse Practitioner from Winchester who has worked with the clinic since 2006 and who attended the opening ceremony.”
The ward has already been well-used, with 7 patients being admitted the day after the opening ceremony.
We give thanks to God for providing the finances and team to enable this to happen and pray that the clinic will continue to provide and excellent service to the community of Yei for many years to come.
