Fundraising swim raises almost £10,000

A family challenge to swim the length of Lake Windermere in a team relay was Almost to the end at Amblesidesuccessfully completed on 4th August.  A wonderful sunny day with blue skies greeted the swimmers as they plunged into the cold waters at Lakeside early on the Friday morning.  John Inglis-Jones did the first stretch of about 2 kilometres before his brother Giles Inglis-Jones took over for a good stretch down the central part so the lake.  Angus, Jessie, Ella and Dominic ( the younger members of the team) all swam stints in the middle part of the lake cheered on by those in the support boats.

Changeover timeEarlier than expected Ambleside came into view and the whole family completed the final part of the swim to bring them safely to shore in just under 6 and a half hours.

A huge thanks to all those who supported them, either practically on the day, or by giving towards the tremendous total of nearly £10,000 that was raised.
